About the Event

 Cacao & Maca Ceremony plus Workshop Presentation is designed to give you an in depth experience and understanding of the medicinal properties of Cacao and Maca and their every-day use.

Maca is the most sacred Incan medicine used to treat and balance the body during stress. The correct identification of symptoms and combination of maca colours can assist with managing hormonal issues, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, mental health, anxiety, depression, PMS, menopause, adrenal fatigue, addiction and autoimmunity. Not all maca is created equal, so how do you know the medicinal properties of your maca? Come along a be guided through the ancient Incan traditions surrounding maca, the science behind how it works, how to tell it’s medicinal potential, and how to use it as medicine to heal and rebuild your body and mind.

Dr Corin Storkey | Seleno Health

Corin is a health educator with over 15 years of academic and research experience, specialising in medicinal antioxidant chemistry, oxidative diseases, cellular protection and health. He holds a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Melbourne, Australia and the Heart Research Institute – Sydney, Australia. He has previously struggled with and overcome chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) using natural health. He heads New Zealand's Maca research program and focuses on linking science to traditional uses of maca and cacao.

Sally Huapaya | Seleno Health

Sally is a native Peruvian of Incan descent, with a Bachelor in industrial engineering and specialist in traditional health enhancing Peruvian botanicals. She is an educator of traditional and spiritual practices surrounding Incan medicine and culture, including maca and cacao. She will guide you through the ancient traditions surrounding each plant and how to connect and treat your own health with them.

Both Sally and Corin live and work between New Zealand and 2 farming communities in Peru (in the mountains and the jungle) where they actively take part in planting, harvesting and preparation of their own maca and cacao. They run a cultural exchange and social responsibility program that brings people to Peru to experience the culture and gives back to the communities of their farmers. Their model of ethical business recently won them the 2019-2020 NZ Organic Week Brand of the year award.

Lucy Brooking | Cacao Keeper

Lucy has spent extended amounts of time in Peru connecting to the medicine of the land, including Cacao. As a facilitator of Cacao Ceremony for three years now, she has a well integrated practice with Cacao on a daily basis which has rippled out in all areas of her life.
